A new Minor Injuries Unit has opened temporarily at Noble's Hospital

A dedicated area for treating minor injuries and illnesses has opened at the Isle of Man's main hospital after a pest control issue closed the facility in the north.

The Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) at Noble's Hospital will run alongside the Emergency Department and is staffed by specialist nurse practitioners.

Ramsey District and Cottage Hospital, where the unit is normally based, has been temporarily closed as remedial works take place.

The unit at Noble's Hospital in Braddanis accessible by the emergency department entrance, with the MIU reception located on the left, Manx Care has said.

The unit is open seven days a week from 08:00 until 20:00 GMT and a free shuttle bus service operating between the Ramsey District and Cottage Hospital and Noble's Hospital runs daily until 19:30.

The Martin Ward at Ramsey District and Cottage Hospital closed in October for refurbishment after an infestation was discovered in part of the building's roof. No further details about the issue have been released.

Renal services are now being provided at Noble's Hospital and podiatry and physio clinics have moved to the Central Community Health Centre on Westmoreland Road in Douglas.

Tissue viability clinics have also been moved to the Peel GP Practice and the Jurby Health Centre.
