Dog walker dies after being struck by car
GoogleA dog walker has died after he was struck by a car near Scarborough.
North Yorkshire Police said the incident happened between the Staxton and Seamer roundabouts near to the Merry Lees Caravan Park at about 06:40 BST on Monday.
The 67-year-old man was hit by a black Peugeot 208 and died at the scene, the force said, with the 20-year-old driver of the car assisting officers with their investigations.
"Please come forward if you witnessed the incident, have relevant dashcam footage, or possibly saw a man walking a dog nearby before it happened," a police spokesperson said.
The route was closed to traffic in both directions while emergency services worked at the scene and reopened at 14:30 BST.
