Strong services for borough children in care - Ofsted
Getty ImagesA council has been praised for delivering strong, child-centred support to children and young people in care following an Ofsted inspection.
The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead was assessed by the regulator in January, with findings published earlier this month.
The council's leaders were found to have "continued to prioritise children in care", despite the authority's perilous financial position.
Cabinet member for children's services Amy Tisi said: "This positive Ofsted report reflects the dedication of our staff and the strong relationships they build with children and young people in our care.
"We are committed to ensuring children and young people in the Royal Borough have the best positive start to life and we will continue to drive forward further improvements to ensure they are safe, supported and able to flourish."
Ofsted found the council must improve the timeliness of transition planning for disabled children in care.
But the council was found to only bring children into care "when it is necessary and appropriate for them to do so".
Care plans were found to be up to date and when appropriate "written in child-friendly language" so they could understand their plans themselves.
