A river rapids ride at Legoland Windsor that shut for the last time in September 2023 will be demolished if a plan is approved.

The Viking River Splash ride was opened in 2010 and demolition company PCA Safety has submitted a proposal to clear the site for a new project.

The company said the Viking ride's demolition will involve knocking down a raised steel queue line structure, its loading platform, control rooms, plant rooms, pump and treatment rooms and water storage lake.

Legoland has submitted another application to build a new 390-capacity 4D cinema on the site of its Imagination Theatre, one of the oldest attractions at the theme park, which celebrates its 30th anniversary next month.

Documents for both projects have been sent to the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (RBWM), which will decide both later.
