Flats plan redrawn following criticism
GooglePlans to turn a former care home in Wolverhampton into flats have been redrawn, following criticism from council planners.
Proposals for the site at Abbeyfield House, Church Hill Road, Tettenhall, were rejected by the local authority in December. Planners said nine flats was "excessive" for a "quiet residential neighbourhood".
A new application for five flats has now been submitted to the council.
They include proposals for four two-bed and one one-bed flats - the same number of occupants as under the previously rejected nine one-bed flats.
Rejecting the plans last year, City of Wolverhampton Council planners said work would detract from the character and appearance of the Tettenhall conservation area.
The proposed development "by reason of the number of units proposed and the intensity of built form, represents an overdevelopment of the site", the authority said in a report outlining the refusal for the original nine properties.
"The density of the proposal would be excessive relative to the building size and surrounding context."
Planners added shared garden space was "inadequate" and the plans did not provide enough parking spaces, cycle storage or space for bins.
The council also said Church Hill Road was "notably narrow, with limited off-street parking".
