Mina remains in hospital after she was attacked by a dog on Wednesday

An "XL bully type dog" was seized after a 10-year-old girl was seriously injured in a dog attack in Bolton, police have said.

Two dogs were taken after Mina Bestun was attacked on Roseneath Road at about 15:30 GMT on Wednesday.

She remains in hospital with injuries that are believed to be life-changing, and a 28-year-old man and a woman, 52, were arrested on suspicion of possessing a dangerously out of control dog.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) earlier confirmed that one of the dogs is believed to have been an "XL bully type" and the other a terrier.

The force has not said whether the dogs have been destroyed.

Speaking to BBC Manchester from the hospital, Mina's father, Bestun Ibrahim said his daughter was lucky to be alive.

"It was only her arm, if it was her face or her stomach, what would I do then?

"She was very lucky."

"Please, if you have a dog keep an eye on it," he added.

"This happened to my little daughter, I don't want it to happen again to another kid."
