Dad's fear as girl mauled by dog on way home
Family photoThe father of a 10-year-old girl who was attacked by a dog has said he "could not explain" the fear he felt when he found out.
Mina was mauled two doors down from her house on Roseneath Road, Bolton, as she walked home from school, shortly before 15:30 GMT on Wednesday.
"She could have died. It was terrible," truck driver Bestun said. "The first thing I did was stop on the hard shoulder on the motorway and I said please just make sure she's alright."
He said his daughter's arm had been seriously injured and she was waiting for a possible operation.
Two dogs have been detained and a 28-year-old man and a woman, 52, were held on suspicion of possessing a dangerously out of control dog, Greater Manchester Police said.
The breed of the dog has not yet been confirmed.
'Very lucky'
Bestun was in Bristol, on his way home from work, when he got the call.
"I wanted to see her face, know she was ok," he said.
"They video called me from the ambulance and I saw her arm.
"I was very nervous as well, knowing it was not easy for my daughter."
Bestun added: "How can I explain my thoughts or feeling about this - but I don't feel good.
"This happened to my little girl, my heart."
He added: "It was only her arm - if it was her face or her stomach, what would I do then?
"She was very lucky."
