Driver caused man to lose leg after city crash
Nottinghamshire PoliceA motorist has been jailed for four years after his dangerous driving left a mother and daughter seriously injured and caused one man to lose his leg.
Callum Knott, 41, crashed into three cars during a series of incidents in Nottingham on 28 September 2025.
One of his victims was so severely injured that he remains in hospital more than three months afterwards.
Knott, of Saint Matthias Road in St Ann's, Nottingham, was jailed at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday, having previously pleaded guilty to three counts of causing serious injury by driving, failing to stop after a road accident, and failing to report an accident.
Nottinghamshire Police said Knott initially crashed into the back of a van after pulling on to Valley Road in the Sherwood area of Nottingham.
He then crashed into a car containing a woman and three children, forcing them into oncoming traffic, where they hit another vehicle head-on.
The female driver suffered a broken ankle, dislocated knee and numerous other injuries, while her daughter suffered a broken coccyx.
The other passengers suffered minor injuries.
Meanwhile, the other driver - a 65-year-old man - was left with injuries so severe he had to have his right leg amputated.
He remains in hospital after suffering other severe injuries including a broken shoulder, femur and ribs.
Knott later travelled to Arnold Road and crashed into a stationary car.
Detectives said earlier the same day, Knott had gone to a house and slashed the tyres of a car.
He also pleaded guilty to criminal damage and possession of a bladed article, as well as the driving offences, at a hearing at Nottingham Crown Court on 1 October.
