Van driver wanted by immigration authorities held
BCH Road PolicingPolice have apologised to people whose parcels might be late after they arrested a van driver.
The Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire road policing unit said it stopped the vehicle in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, on Tuesday after spotting the driver using his phone.
The unit said he then provided false details, and officers found he had no licence and no insurance and was wanted by the immigration authorities.
It comes after Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said she was targeting people working unlawfully in the gig economy.
