Severn Trent apologised to affected customers

Households in Worcestershire were left with "no supply, poor pressure or discoloured water" due to a burst fire hydrant.

The incident on Austin Road in Bromsgrove was first reported by Severn Trent at 08:49 GMT on Friday, with images at the scene showing water erupting from the pavement.

The water company's website apologised to customers and later reassured customers shortly before 11:00 that the issue had been resolved.

A Severn Trent spokesperson said: "A small number of customers experienced supply issues for a short period of time which we're sorry about, but everything should now be back to normal."

Some residents living in Bromsgrove were left with no water supply or discoloured water

It comes just two weeks after multiple Bromsgrove schools were forced to close due to a similar incident.

Aston Fields Middle School, Finstall First School and Rigby Hall School all closed after a nearby water main burst, again causing discoloured water.
