Two more arrests have been made after a large group of people armed with poles and pieces of wood were spotted fighting in the street.

South Yorkshire Police sent specialist teams, including dog units, to deal with the disturbance on Firth Park Road, in the Page Hall area of Sheffield, on Monday.

The force said five men aged 19, 31, 35, 37 and 53, were initially arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

A spokesperson said two more people - a 17-year-old boy and a 23-year-old man - had also been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and remained in custody.

The force said an officer had suffered a minor injury during the incident after being hit by a thrown object, but no further injuries were reported.

Ch Supt Jamie Henderson asked for anyone with information to get in touch.

He said "enhanced patrols" would continue in the area "to provide reassurance to residents who will rightly be concerned".
