Marcus Ned knocked a man off his motorcycle and fired a gun at him

A man who knocked a motorcyclist off his bike and shot at him has been jailed for nine years and nine months.

Marcus Ned attacked the man on Rivelin Valley Road, Sheffield, shortly after firing his gun at a property on Daniel Hill Street on 3 April 2025.

The 37-year-old, of Fairburn Place, Sheffield, was jailed at the city's crown court on Tuesday after admitting attempting to cause GBH and two counts of possessing a firearm with intent.

Det Sgt Matthew Barnes of South Yorkshire Police said: "Thankfully no one was injured by Ned's reckless criminality, but this isn't always the case."

Police said Ned knew the cyclist and had launched "a targeted attack, intent on causing the victim harm".

Armed officers were sent to an address linked to Ned to arrest him following the two attacks, but he scaled down a two-storey block of flats and fled.

With the help of a police helicopter, officers found him hiding in the garden of a nearby property and detained him.

A search of the property he had escaped from found a firearm and ammunition which matched the cartridges found at the two crime scenes.

Police officers also shot an "aggressive" XL bully upon entering the Daniel Hill Street house, which then escaped.

Barnes added: "We continue to urge anyone with information on the use of firearms in South Yorkshire to get in touch with us.

"You - our local communities - are vital in helping us tackling gun crime. If you know something, tell us so we can act on it."
