The clock featured in the 1945 classic film Brief Encounter is returning to its original home in the film's 80th anniversary year.

The film directed by David Lean and starring Celia Johnson as Laura Jesson and Trevor Howard as doctor Alec Harvey is about two strangers who fall in love after meeting at a railway station.

As filming took place during World War Two, Carnforth railway station in Lancashire was chosen as a location as it was remote and safe from attack.

The clock which was first installed at the station in December 1895 was removed in August 2020 for restoration is set to officially go back on display later.
