First minister recalls 'moment of peace' as Christmas card revealed
John SwinneyFirst Minister John Swinney has chosen a scenic photo he took during a Highland hike for his 2025 Christmas card.
The image was captured in 2024, before he succeeded Humza Yousaf, on the banks of Loch Ossian on Rannoch Moor.
The SNP leader revealed he "felt a moment of peace and clarity" at the time.
Last year his official card featured a photo taken by photographer Jane Barlow in his Perthshire North constituency.
The first minister said: "Taking in the crisp Highland air and the sights around me is something I will never forget - standing there by the side of the loch, surrounded by nature, suddenly gave me a new perspective.
"The value of getting outdoors and interacting with nature for our physical and mental well-being cannot be understated."
'Beautiful natural environment'
Swinney added: "The photograph I took that day - the image I have chosen for my Christmas card this year - is one that reminds me just how powerfully moving Scotland's beautiful natural landscapes can be.
"We are living through uncertain, challenging times, and the importance of connection is greater than ever - to nature and to those around us.
"This festive season, I would encourage everyone to make your way outdoors if you are able to, even just for a short time, to make the most of what our uniquely beautiful natural environment has to offer."
Previous first minister Christmas card designs include images by singer Annie Lennox and photographer Harry Benson.
