Football club reveals masterplan for new stadium

Worcester City Football Club has revealed a masterplan for its new proposed permanent home.

Worcestershire Community Sports Park, a 565-seater stadium, would be located in Fernhill Heath and accessed from both Hurst Lane and Hindlip Lane.

Plans were first announced in November and now a website has been launched to reveal how it could look.

The scheme features a state-of-the-art football pitch, cricket pitch, a community building, eco family housing and retirement living.

Worcester City owner Simon Lancaster urged fans to offer their views on the development ahead of a public consultation at Fernhill Heath War Memorial Club on 22 February.

Speaking to BBC Hereford & Worcester, Mr Lancaster said: "We are at the part of the process where we are trying to engage the public and let them see how good the plans are.

"We need fans to have their say - to make this dream come true.

"The feedback so far has been wholly positive, I must admit.

"What we are trying to do is secure the future of the football club and we are not trying to reach for the stars but to ensure that the football club is sustainably run."
