The Saxon Mill in Guys Cliffe was forced to shut on Thursday after water rushed through its front door when a Severn Trent pipe burst on Coventry Road

A pub had its "entire ground floor" flooded when a water main burst outside.

The Saxon Mill in Guys Cliffe, Warwickshire, was forced to close on Thursday, just months after being refurbished, when the Severn Trent pipe burst on Coventry Road.

The road, from Spinney Hill to A46 Warwick Bypass, remains closed, while The Saxon Mill announced that it had been able to open as normal. However, customers were warned the pub cannot be accessed from the A46.

A spokesperson for Severn Trent said the water pipe had been fixed on Thursday and it was now working on "repairing the road and making it safe again".

The company added that the work would be taking place over the weekend and three-way lights would be installed so people could continue to use the road.

The pub said: "We are really upset this has happened to us and to you at this time of year".

It thanked its customers for their "patience and understanding" and added that it was excited to welcome them back.

"We are sorry for the disruption but appreciate everyone's patience while we work as quickly and safely as possible to get everything completed, and back to normal", Severn Trent said.
