A woman was pushed to the ground and sexually assaulted in a park while walking her dog.

She was attacked in Abbey Gardens, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, on Saturday at about 21:30 GMT, a West Mercia Police spokesperson said.

The man who assaulted her ran off towards the park's entrance, at the junction of English Bridge and Abbey Foregate.

He was described as wearing dark clothing, possibly with a padded jacket or similar, of larger build, taller than 5ft 6 and spoke with a Wolverhampton or Telford accent, officers said.

"The woman is being supported by specialist trained officers," said Det Con Adam Butler, who added they wanted to hear from anyone who was in the park at around the time of the attack.
