A woman has been charged after a teenager died in an XL bully dog attack.

Avon and Somerset Police said Kelcie Reed, 24, of Lawrence Weston, had been charged with being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control, causing injury resulting in death.

The charge relates to the death of Morgan Dorsett, 19, from Shrewsbury, who died following the incident outside a flat in Withywood, Bristol, on 26 February 2025.

Reed is due to appear at Bristol Magistrates' Court on 23 April.

A man in his 20s, who had also been arrested in connection with the incident last year, will face no further action, police said.

Emergency services were called to a flat in Cobhorn Drive at 19:19 GMT last year to reports of the dog attack, but despite their best efforts, Dorsett died from bites to her neck and face, a post-mortem examination ruled.

The dog was put down after the attack, police said.

Det Sgt Rich Glanville, from Avon and Somerset Police, said: "This is a significant milestone in our investigation into Morgan's tragic death last year.

"Her family continue to be updated on the progress of our investigation and supported by a specially-trained family liaison officer."
