Town's night bus trial comes to an end
BBCA night bus trial in Shrewsbury is due to finish, after more than 3,000 passenger journeys.
The pilot scheme, which launched in November, ran from Wednesday to Saturday until midnight, with the aim of helping people to get home safely following a night out or after a late shift.
The service, initially funded by the Shrewsbury Big Town Plan Partnership, was extended until March after additional funding from the West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner's community fund, but will come to an end on Friday night.
Julia Buckley, Labour MP for Shrewsbury, said she was "really pleased" with the trial and project teams were looking to run the service again in the future.
She said they had placed another bid to continue the scheme from April but it was unsuccessful.
"We are looking for other pots of funding, we would like to run that service again. If we can find the funding then we can very quickly get that route running again," the MP said.
"We're certainly keen to run it next December and we'll keep looking in between for any funding that can bring it back, because it's been really popular.
"It's really helped people get to work, get out and get home safely."
