A man and woman have been arrested following a spate of thefts from vehicles across Middlesbrough.

Cleveland Police said a huge haul of power tools, keys and building equipment, believed to be have been stolen from cars and vans, was discovered at a property in the Hadfield Court area of the town on Saturday.

A 39-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle and motor vehicle interference, the force said.

Officers from the Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Team said they will now be contacting victims to try to reunite them with their belongings, which are valued at tens of thousands of pounds.

They have urged anyone with more information or who may know the owners of the items to get in touch with the force.
