A child has been arrested on suspicion of punching a policewoman in the face while she guarded a murder scene.

Cleveland Police said two officers were on Egglescliffe Close in Stockton when they were approached by a group of children shortly after 21:00 GMT on Tuesday.

The force said the group were verbally abusive to the officers, jumped over fences to access the property and jumped on a police car.

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker and has since been released on conditional bail.

David Cuthbert was found dead by police in a property on Egglescliffe Close on Saturday.

His family said the 49-year-old was "loved by so many" and had a "heart of gold".

Two 18-year-olds and a 19-year-old have been charged with his murder.
