Elderly woman dies in house fire

The fire at a house on Sandwood Park in Guisborough killed a woman in her 80s

An elderly woman has died in a house fire.

The blaze broke out before 19:38 GMT on Monday at a house at Sandwood Park on the edge of Guisborough, Cleveland Fire Brigade said.

The body of the woman, who was aged in her 80s, was found inside.

A cordon around the property remained in place overnight and a joint investigation into the cause is being carried out by Cleveland Police and the fire service.
