Man accused of train stabbings faces more charges
Getty ImagesA man accused of stabbing 10 people on a train has been charged with further offences that allegedly happened in the hours before the attack.
Anthony Williams, of Langford Road in Peterborough, has been charged with seven other offences, including a count of attempted murder on a 14-year-old boy, following a police investigation.
Mr Williams, 32, did not appear at a brief hearing before Peterborough Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, and no pleas were entered and no application for bail was made.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Cambridge Crown Court next month.
The latest charges that Mr Williams faces are:
- Attempted murder of a 14-year-old boy at Henry Penn Walk in Peterborough on 31 October
- Attempted murder of a 22-year-old man at Rail World Car Park in Peterborough on 31 October
- Attempted wounding with intent of a 28-year-old man at Henry Penn Walk on 31 October
- Affray in connection to an alleged incident at Ritzy Barbers in Peterborough on 31 October
- Possession of a bladed instrument in a public place
- Theft of knives from an Asda supermarket in Stevenage on 31 October
- Common assault of a 31-year-old man onboard a train travelling between Hitchin and Biggleswade on 1 November
Earlier this month he was remanded into custody in relation to the train stabbing charges and a count of attempted murder in London.
Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Cundy, of British Transport Police, said the force had "worked closely with our colleagues in Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Police, alongside the Crown Prosecution Service" to bring the latest set of charges.
Passengers on the 18:25 GMT LNER service on 1 November said a person brandishing a knife began stabbing people after it passed through Peterborough.
It was diverted to Huntingdon - an unscheduled stop - which prompted a large emergency response.
