Second charge in missing man murder case
South Yorkshire PoliceA second man has been charged in connection with the murder of a man who went missing more than six years ago.
Richard Dyson, 55, disappeared in 2019. His remains were discovered at a property on Broadcarr Road in Barnsley in July 2025, with a postmortem later confirming he died as a result of shotgun wounds.
Karl Schwalbe, 72, of Dike Hill, Rotherham has been charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice and appeared at Barnsley Magistrates' Court earlier.
Christopher Wright, 72, of Hoyland, appeared at Sheffield Crown Court in November charged with Dyson's murder.
In a statement following the charges brought against Schwalbe, South Yorkshire Police said: "Richard's family is continuing to be supported as this case develops.
"We urge anyone with information of Richard's death that you have not yet shared to officers, to get in touch."
Wright has also been charged with preventing the lawful and decent burial of a body as well as 27 firearms offences.
