Second murder arrest after man attacked at house

Police investigating the death of a man found injured in a house in Chesterfield have arrested a second man.

Jason Smith, 53, was taken to hospital after being found at a property on Southgate Way, Barrow Hill, on 20 January, but died two days later.

On Sunday, Derbyshire Police said a 20-year-old man from Sheffield arrested on suspicion of murder had been released pending further investigations.

A second man, aged 46 and of no fixed abode, was arrested on suspicion of murder on Thursday.

In a statement, police said the man had been released on bail following his arrest.

Officers are also urging any witnesses or anyone with information about the incident on 20 January to come forward.
