Murder arrest after man attacked at house
GoogleA man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after another man was attacked at a house in Chesterfield.
Derbyshire Police said officers were called to reports of an assault at the property in Southgate Way, Barrow Hill, at about 13:00 GMT on Tuesday.
Jason Smith, 53, of Southgate Way, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and died on Thursday evening.
A 20-year-old man from Sheffield has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
The force said the area will continue to see an increased police presence into the weekend.
A spokesperson said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen anyone leaving the Southgate Way area at around 1pm on Tuesday 20 January.
"Of particular interest is anyone with CCTV footage from the surrounding streets – as well as any drivers who may have been in the area at the time with dashcam footage."
