About 250 people will be employed at MiTek's new European base in Worcester

A global manufacturing firm is building a major new base in Worcester.

MiTek, which provides software, services and automated solutions to the building industry, is setting up its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) headquarters at Worcester Six Business Park.

Worcestershire County Council said the move would bring job opportunities to the county and benefit the local economy.

"The relocation of their headquarters is a significant investment for MiTek and shows great confidence in Worcestershire as a business location," it said.

James Morgan, managing director of MiTek's EMEA operations, said Worcester was a clear choice for the firm's new home.

"We wanted to relocate to a place where there's space for expansion in the future, with good transport links," he said.

"It ticked all the boxes for what we were looking for… for the next 20 years."

Mr Morgan said about 250 people would be employed on the 278,000 sq ft site, some of whom would come from MiTek's current UK base in Dudley.

But he said new jobs would likely be created too.

"This [will be] our home for decades now so inevitably this is going to generate jobs in the Worcestershire area," he said.

County councillor Adam Kent said the development was good news for Worcestershire's economy

The new development is the 12th to be built at the business park, near junction six of the M5.

Adam Kent, the county council's cabinet member for economy and skills, said the development showed the authority's commitment to growing the local economy.

"I think you can see by the growth of this site, and the number of companies here, this is an investment for the residents of Worcestershire," he said.

Work on the new MiTek site is expected to be completed towards the end of 2025.
