Police officers pursued the suspects on Thursday with support from a helicopter

Two men, including a suspected gunman, have been arrested and released after a police chase.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said officers were called to a report of a man carrying a firearm near Badminton, in South Gloucestershire, at about 16:55 BST on Thursday.

Two men from South Wales were arrested in Tomarton after the car was stopped by officers following the pursuit.

A man in his early-20s has been released under investigation after being arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm, failing to stop for police, and dangerous driving. The second man, who is in his late-teens, was released without charge.

Firearms officers who attended the scene were supported by the National Police Air Service helicopter.

The force said officers have not been able to find a weapon and an investigation is ongoing.
