Police officer injured in row involving taser

Two men, aged in their 20s, were arrested for a number of offences including assault on police

A police officer was taken to hospital with facial injures following a row between two men in Limavady, County Londonderry on Sunday.

One man, in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of assault on police, resisting arrest and theft.

Another man, also in his 20s, made off from the scene, barricaded himself inside a property in the Glenview area and armed himself with a broken bottle. Police deployed a taser during the incident.

A man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, assault on police, disorderly behaviour, and theft.

A woman was also taken to hospital for treatment to injuries but they are not thought to be serious.

Police are appealing to anyone with information, or who may have mobile phone or CCTV footage, to contact them.
