The trust says ongoing heating maintenance work is being carried out at Grangewood

A health trust has said it will continue to monitor the temperature at a Londonderry hospital as work continues to fix a faulty heating system.

It comes four days after the Western Health and Social Care Trust (WHSCT) apologised to patients at Grangewood, for "any discomfort" caused by "intermittent issues" with the heating system.

On Friday the trust said Grangewood, a mental health inpatient unit on the Gransha site in Derry, had experienced issues with its heating and hot water "over a number of days".

On Tuesday, the trust said the heating system has been "restored to a thermal comfort level".

"The Trust Estate's team continue to carryout ongoing maintenance to the heating system at Grangewood," a WHSCT spokesperson said.

Temperatures will continue to be monitored and further necessary remedial work carried out, the trust said.

"Once again, we apologise for any discomfort or inconvenience this may have caused to our service users at the facility," the spokesperson added.

Last week the trust said while hot water was restored, there continued to be "intermittent issues" with the heating system.

The trust added that its estates team had carried out repairs and were monitoring the situation, adding that it was working to "ensure patient comfort is achieved".

Last month patients at the trust's Altnagelvin hospital were supplied with bottled water after a burst pipe disrupted the hospital's water supply.
