Rail services cancelled after incident on line

Inter-city train services in Northamptonshire have been delayed or cancelled after a person was hit by a train.

East Midlands Railway said services would not be running until 19:00 BST between Kettering and Leicester on Tuesday, with some trains "diverted where possible".

Replacement buses were being sought to keep people on the move.

Trains between London St Pancras, Nottingham and Sheffield were also affected by the incident, the rail firm said.

National Rail later confirmed on X that the line had reopened, but warned: "Whilst service recovers, trains may still be delayed by up to 60 minutes, diverted or cancelled."

It said rail ticket holders could travel at no extra cost on alternate East Midlands Railway services between Grantham and Nottingham, and LNER between Doncaster and London Kings Cross.
