Dead swan 'was not strangled', post-mortem reveals
Getty ImagesA post-mortem has revealed the death of a swan was not suspicious after police initially believed it had been strangled.
Gloucestershire Police officers were called to the Balancing Ponds in the Saintbridge area of Gloucester on 13 September after the bird was found by a member of the public.
As all wild birds are protected by law, an investigation was launched to determine whether it had been intentionally killed with "unnecessary cruelty", police said.
The Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) carried out a post-mortem examination on the bird and determined there was no evidence of foul play, but is continuing to investigate its death.
