Hundreds of whooper swans from Iceland have landed on a wetland in Lancashire.

Experts are asking the public to avoid interacting with wild birds and not feed or handle them.

National Highways says there was a "happy ending" to the rescue.

Bird flu has been detected in swans in Belfast, Newtownards, Armagh, Newry and Dungannon.

Up to 50 birds may be culled to protect animal welfare and the community, a council says.

The bird will make a full recovery but a charity believes more wildlife is being shot at.
