Firefighters have worked through the night to put out a roof fire at a thatched house.

The fire broke out at the home on Viables Lane in Basingstoke on Tuesday at about 16:00 GMT. At its height over 60 firefighters tackled the blaze using foam and and jets to stop it spreading.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service said the entire home had been damaged by fire.

The fire service said one fire engine and one aerial ladder platform remained at the house to dampen down and deal with hotspots on Wednesday. It said no injuries had been reported and the cause of the fire was currently unknown.
