Police have carried out reassurance patrols after the brawl in a supermarket car park

A knife, a broken BB gun, counterfeit cash and a suspected class B drug have been seized after a brawl in a supermarket car park.

Police said they had been called to reports of an altercation involving several youths and weapons in the Tesco car park in East Walk, Yate, at about 17:45 GMT on Monday.

Nobody was seriously injured in the incident, and Avon and Somerset Police said those involved are believed to be known to one another.

The people involved left the scene at about 18:00, with reassurance patrols carried out in the area since.

CCTV enquiries are also being conducted as the investigation continues.

Neighbourhood Insp Stephen Baines said: "Members of the community will notice an increase in high-visibility patrols while we focus on maintaining public safety, but we do not believe this incident is linked to any ongoing issues in the area.

"The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) will be progressing the investigation and anyone with concerns are encouraged to discuss them with patrolling officers," he added.

Any witnesses, including those with CCTV or dashcam footage, have been urged to contact police.
