Second man arrested after woman hit by car

A second suspect has been arrested after a pedestrian was hit by a car in Nottingham city centre.

Emergency services were called to Friar Lane at about 16:55 GMT on Sunday after the woman was struck and taken to hospital with serious injuries.

An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving in the aftermath, while another suspect fled from the scene.

Later on Sunday, Nottinghamshire Police said a 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and possession of a knife after he went to a police station.

Police said investigations were ongoing, and as there were a number of people in the area at the time, appealed for any witnesses who had not already come forward to contact them.

The injured woman in currently recovering in hospital, officers confirmed.
