A two-year-old has suffered serious injuries during a dog attack, police say.

Emergency services were called to a property in Homington Avenue in Swindon, Wiltshire, after the child was bitten by a dog at 12.30 GMT on Sunday.

"The child sustained serious facial injuries and was taken to hospital," a Wiltshire Police spokesperson said.

A woman in her 20s was arrested on suspicion of owning or being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control causing injury. She has since been released on bail.

Police have not released the breed of dog involved in the attack, but a spokesperson confirmed it has been taken to kennels.
