A teenager has pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon in public over the stabbing of a 16-year-old boy.

Police were called to a derelict skatepark near the former Oasis Leisure Centre in Swindon, where the victim was found with serious injuries and taken to hospital where he remains.

The 17-year-old charged in relation to the incident, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted responsibility at Swindon Magistrates Court on Thursday.

"This was a really concerning incident," Det Sgt Sarah Munday from Wiltshire Police previously said.

The incident happened at about 11:20 BST on Wednesday, with staff and students at Swindon New College's nearby North Star campus asked to stay on site "as a temporary safety measure" while emergency services were at the scene.

The 17-year-old has been remanded in youth detention and will be sentenced on 27 February.
