Investigators have not been able to determine the cause of a large shop fire that caused the workshop to partially collapse.

The blaze broke out at Klassic - which manufactures kitchen and bedroom cupboards - in Marjorie Street in Leicester at about 09:25 GMT on Friday.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said the cause had been established as "undetermined" following a joint investigation with police.

The family-run business, which used the site to create wooden units, said it had been forced to close "for the time being" as the building had been deemed unsafe.

At its height, four crews and an aerial ladder were used to bring the fire under control.

The fire service said the blaze began on the ground floor and the building had partially collapsed due to the extent of the damage.

Faizal, the son of Klassic's owner, said he found the outbuilding on fire following a delivery.

"I came in in the morning and there was a small fire and it just suddenly erupted," he said.

"There was no-one in the building, thank God. I'm still not sure how it caught fire.

"We're going to have to cancel the jobs that we have.

"We're all family around here and we're all supportive of each other, so it'll be OK," he added.
