Firm hit by large fire closes 'for the time being'
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue ServiceA family business says it has closed "for the time being" after a large fire caused its workshop to partially collapse.
The blaze broke out at Klassic - which makes bespoke kitchen and bedroom cupboards - at about 09:25 GMT on Friday.
Klassic said the fire began in an outbuilding in its Marjorie Street site, with Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service sending four appliances and an aerial ladder platform.
The fire service said the building partially collapsed due to the extent of the damage.
Faizal, the son of Klassic's owner, said he found the building on fire following a delivery.
"I came in in the morning and there was a small fire and it just suddenly erupted," he said.
"There was no-one in the building, thank God. I'm still not sure how it caught fire."
Leicester Media OnlineFaizal, who did not want to give his surname, said the fire service had now deemed the building unsafe.
As the site was used to create wooden units, the business will have to close for "the time being", he added.
"There's nothing else we can do now," he said. "We're going to have to cancel the jobs that we have.
"We're just going to have to see how it is, have a chat with the landlord to see what he wants to do with the building, and then we'll have to take it from there.
"It's life - we're all family around here and we're all supportive of each other, so it'll be OK."
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service has been contacted regarding the cause of the blaze, which has not yet been determined.
