Gen Z art competition winners announced
Bradford Museums and GalleriesThe winners of a Gen Z art competition have been announced at the opening of a new exhibition of their work.
The Z Open run by Bradford District Museums and Galleries was open to entrants aged 16 to 25 years who live, work or study in Bradford.
Judge Atiyya Mirza said the three winners, Juna Tu, 16, Van Garon, 20, and Haleema Aziz, 25, showed "exceptional quality and interesting conceptual themes of work".
Their work will be on display at Bradford Industrial Museum until 8 March.
A Bradford Council spokesperson said: "As the district's year as UK City of Culture draws to a close it's clear to see that the future of art being produced by our young people is bright."
Juna Tu won the 16 –18 years category, with an acrylic on canvas painting called Faces of Light, which boasted an "amazing use of light", according to judge Ruth Fettis, a local printmaker.
Bradford Museums and GalleriesVan Garon won the 19 to 21 age category with an animation entry called Colt, a stop-motion figure called Soloman Vanguard and a poster design entitled The Revenant Program, while the 22 to 25 category winner, Haleema Aziz, created a series of paintings.

"These echoed skill and talent, with thought provoking ideas and imaginative visualisation."
