Police say the vehicle was reported on incidents on four city roads in just 20 minutes

A dangerous driver went on a six-mile rampage in Leeds before making off on foot after his car crashed and overturned.

The male driver crashed into numerous vehicles without stopping and drove the wrong way along the A61 during morning rush hour on 12 February, West Yorkshire Police said.

Collisions were reported on four different roads in the city between 08:30 and 08:50 GMT, though no-one is thought to have been injured, according to a force spokesperson.

Insp Claire Gray said: "A number of inquiries remain ongoing into this series of incidents in Leeds in which a Skoda Fabia has clearly been driven in a dreadful and dangerous manner."

Members of the public first reported a blue Skoda Fabia crashing into vehicles on Savins Mill Way before being driven off at speed onto Kirkstall Road towards the city centre at 08:40.

The same car was involved in a further collision on Canal Road, close to the junction with Pickering Street, at about 08:45.

The Skoda was said to have been overtaking a line of slow-moving vehicles in the Leeds-bound carriageway and failed to stop after making contact with other cars.

The car was then driven the wrong way from Jack Lane along the A61 in the direction of the M621 Junction 4, where it drove through traffic, according to police.

It collided with numerous vehicles before again failing to stop.

At 08:50 police received reports of the car being involved in a crash on Dewsbury Road in Beeston where it was said to have collided with vehicles before flipping onto its roof and coming to rest after striking a double-decker bus.

The driver, who was described as wearing a black puffer-style coat, then made off on foot.

Insp Gray appealed to any witnesses, or anyone with relevant dashcam footage, to get in touch.
