Bright artwork to showcase town in a new light
LuyaA major art installation is set to bathe two heritage buildings in an immersive light.
St Modwen's Church and the Bass Water Tower, in Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire, will be illuminated as part of Canvas of Light by artists at Luxmuralis.
Taking place from 18 to 20 December, visitors will be invited to explore the light projections free of charge.
The light trail will include the recently renovated Memorial Gardens, which link the two landmarks, as well as a festive market, plus live entertainment.
"Burton is undergoing so many exciting changes, and Canvas of Light is a brand-new way to celebrate the town this festive season," said councillor Paul Walker, the council's cabinet member for tourism and cultural development.
"It's the first time we've hosted an event like this, and it's a wonderful opportunity for residents and visitors to see our landmarks in a completely new light.
"The trail, projections, and festive activities come together to create something truly special for the community."
LuyaIt is hoped the event will help bring an added boost to the town, to follow on from its Christmas lights switch on, which takes place at Burton Market Place on 23 November, and will feature a funfair, music and a fireworks display.
The Canvas of Light installation will be open from 17:00 GMT until 20:00 each evening on 18, 19 and 20 December.
