Police are investigating after two men threatened a driver with a machete and stole their car.

The victim was ordered to drive to a number of locations around Burton, and later forced to hand over the keys to a grey Vauxhall Astra.

Both suspects were described as Asian men wearing dark clothing, according to Staffordshire Police.

Officers said the victim was sat in the driver's seat of the car on the Tesco car park off St Peter's Bridge, at about 20:20 GMT on Sunday, and was approached by two men who asked for a lift to Anglesey Road.

They got inside and stated they had a knife.

The victim then drove them to Uxbridge Street, before continuing onto Anglesey Park car park.

Once there he was directed to head back to the rear of the Tesco car park near the Washlands.

There, the suspects told the victim to get out of the car but were spooked after noticing a dog walker nearby, police said.

They told him to get back in the car and drive them back to Anglesey Park, where they got out of the car with the victim and walked him across the park.

One of the suspects then pulled out a machete and demanded the car keys, which the victim handed over.

He then ran off, while the suspects got inside his car and drove off.

Officers later found the car abandoned on Clays Lane.

Two people were seen fleeing the scene, they added.

Anyone with video footage or information that could help was urged to contact Staffordshire Police.
