A rapist who attacked his second victim while awaiting trial for his first offence has been jailed.

Omran Ahmed, 37, raped his first victim while punching her repeatedly in the face in Sneinton, Nottingham, on 20 December 2023.

While on bail and awaiting trial, Ahmed raped another woman at an address in Forest Fields on 20 March 2025.

On Friday, at Nottingham Crown Court, Ahmed was jailed for 15 years and handed an extended five years on licence after being found guilty of two counts of rape and one of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Nottinghamshire Police said Ahmed had denied any sexual contact with his first victim during an initial police interview.

But when he was confronted with DNA evidence, the force said he changed his story, claiming he had been asleep and had no memory of what happened.

The force said Ahmed "continued to protest his innocence" until he was convicted in September 2025.

Following his sentencing, Det Con Alexander Terry said: "Ahmed is an opportunist predator who poses a clear and obvious danger to women.

"As he begins a very long and richly deserved jail sentence, I would like to thank both the women in this case for their bravery and cooperation during what has been a very traumatic experience for both of them."
