A tram named after actress Vicky McClure has been renamed for the choir she founded for people living with dementia.

The Line of Duty star, from Nottingham, had a tram named after her by city operator Nottingham Express Transit (NET) in 2015.

On Wednesday, the new name of the tram was unveiled as 'Vicky McClure's Our Dementia Choir'.

McClure, who requested the change, formed Our Dementia Choir as part of a BBC documentary in 2018, inspired by her time caring for her late grandmother, who had the disease.

As part of the documentary, McClure looked into the response and impact of singing for people living with dementia, with the help of experts and scientific studies.

The choir has since continued singing together in TV performances and shows, including the 2022 Splendour Festival.

The Bafta award-winning actress told the BBC: "I'm so proud of all the things that I've been able to do over my career but nothing comes close to Our Dementia Choir.

"Nothing means more to me personally than what it is that the choir does and everything that they achieve."

McClure and the choir attended a special ceremony at the NET depot where a member was asked to reveal the tram's new name.

Speaking at the event, the Bafta-award-winning actress said: "Seven years this choir's been going. It's helped so many people not just in the choir but the carers, the family members.

"We've found some incredible volunteers along the way, we have the most incredible team I could wish for running the show and I want to sort of find a way to tell you how grateful I am."

In celebration of their new tram, the choir sang a rendition of Neil Diamond's Sweet Caroline.
