Deaf and blind dog rescued from river

The RNLI rescued a deaf and blind dog after it was cut off by a rising tide in Devon.

A Facebook post from Exmouth RNLI said it was called out to the incident in the River Exe at 15:49 BST on Sunday by the coastguard.

The post said the dog had become stranded after the tide rose and the RNLI crew reached the scene "within a few minutes".

The RNLI said it was able to secure the dog and return it to its owners.

"The stranded dog was quickly secured by our volunteer crew and returned to its grateful owners," Exmouth RNLI said.

"A great outcome for our volunteer crews after a challenging week of multiple shouts."
