Why the pandemic won't stop Naomi Kawase's Olympic vision

Naomi Kawase is Japan’s most awarded and celebrated female director. She was chosen as the official documentary maker of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games - a project which took an unexpected turn when the Games were postponed in the midst of a global pandemic.
Despite this, Kawase is forging ahead with the documentary with a renewed sense of purpose of being part of this historical event.
Talking Movies' Carmen Roberts went to her home in Nara, Japan’s oldest town, which is around 500km away from the capital to talk to her about her work and why she feels the Olympics is about so much more than winning medals.
Watch Talking Movies' Sport Special on BBC World News when the programme will explore how sport and cinema have come together over the decades. Saturday 25th July at 20:30 GMT
