Condor Ferries boss John Napton stands down from role

John Napton has stepped down as the CEO of Condor Ferries, the firm has announced.

It has given no reason for his departure after his two-and-a-half years in the role.

The company, which operates ferries between the Channel Islands, UK and France, said Christophe Mathieu, CEO of Brittany Ferries, will also now be its interim CEO with immediate effect.

It described him as a long-term board member of Condor.

Russel Kew, Condor Ferries' executive chairman, said: "We would like to thank John for his leadership over his time with the company, during which he oversaw the continuation of services during the pandemic and the introduction of our latest vessel, Condor Islander, last year.

"We all wish him well for the future.

"Christophe possesses exceptional experience in ferry operations as CEO of Brittany Ferries and will provide strong leadership for Condor.

"He also knows our people, customers and the islands well, so it is very much business as usual."

The firm expects Mr Mathieu to lead the firm through the procurement process for a new long-term operating agreement for freight and passenger services to the Channel Islands, which was announced by the governments of Guernsey and Jersey last month.
