Liberation Day: Sark marks 78th anniversary
BBCThe island of Sark has been marking 78 years of liberation from German forces during World War Two.
The Channel Islands were occupied from 1940 until 9 May 1945, with Sark liberated a day later.
Residents from Jersey and Guernsey celebrated on Tuesday with different events happening on the two islands.
A gathering was held on Sark at 12:00 GMT in front of the Island Hall, with children from the local school performing war-time songs.
Organiser Charlie Jones said it was "not a huge celebration" but it was still important to mark the event.
She said: "I know that the older generation were only children when Sark was liberated.
"But they had stories from their grandparents ... and passing those stories on to children today around a communal table is exactly what we want to do to keep that alive."
